HEARTwise — Heart Failure Assessment with Reliable Technology using Wearables and In-vitro diagnostics.
Heart failure is one of the leading causes of death and disability, imposing a global economic burden of US$346 billion per year with a prevalence of 1–2% in the USA or Europe. In Singapore, heart failure affects 2.5% of the population, presents earlier (by 10 years), is more aggressive with worse clinical outcomes, and is the leading cardiac cause of hospital admission.
With this in mind, HEARTwise aims for early detection, as well as safe and secure continuous monitoring of patients. We aim to develop new sensing methods while also utilising readily available consumer biometric monitors to improve sensitivity of detection while remaining easily available for Singapore’s existing aging population.
