Prof. Dr. Markus Weber

Senior Research Scientist

Biography

Prof. Dr. Markus Weber joined TUM CREATE in 2016 as a Senior Research Scientist in the Electrification and Energy Systems cluster. He received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Munich in 2011, where his thesis focused on battery management systems for hybrid electric vehicles.

Prior to joining TUM CREATE, he held research positions at BMW Group Research and Innovation Centre in Munich and the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Technology. His work at TUM CREATE focuses on thermal management of lithium-ion battery packs for tropical climates, second-life battery applications, and grid-interactive electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

He has published over 45 peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers, and holds 6 patents in battery systems technology. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Energy Storage and is an active member of the IEEE Power Electronics Society.
